Many people whom I have met still have no clue, what Toastmasters is all about. Some of the interesting findings are, “Toastmasters is a baking club” or A Bakers organisation.
I have heard from one of the club that I have visited, had a walk-in guest that thought the club was holding some cooking class. Eventually the walk-in guest joined the toastmasters club and went on to complete “The Competent Communicator Manual” and become a Toastmasters Competent Communicator. Morever to surprise you, the walk in guest is a 70 year old lady. This is one of the most amazing toastmasters story I have heard.
Bascially Toastmasters International is an internationl Nonprofit Organisation that now has nearly 250,000 members in more than 12,500 clubs in 106 countries, offering a proven – and enjoyable! – way to practice and hone communication and leadership skills.
Most Toastmasters meetings are comprised of approximately 20-30 people who meet monthly for about 2-3 hours. Participants practice and learn skills by filling a meeting role, ranging from giving a prepared speech or an impromptu one to serving as timer, (project, general or language evaluator). There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in a positive manner, focusing on what was done right and what could be improved.
If you have any enquires to know more about toastmasters. Do contact any of our us to find out more, how you can benefit from Toastmasters.
